ALL ABOARD! Eurovision 2018
Will the UK be left languishing in the lower echelons of the leader board as usual or will the judges put Brexit out of their mind for one evening and give us a chance? Doubtful. Will Greece & Cyprus award each other maximum points this year? You bet. And did John Lydon (Aka Johnny Rotten) get his wish as an entry for Ireland this year? Sadly not.
Yep, it’s the 63rd EUROVISION SONG CONTEST!
So far the 2018 contest has seemingly provided little scandal this year bar the usual accusations of plagiarism (Croatian this time) and there are even high hopes for Russia’s entry after the hoo-ha over the country’s boycott of last year’s competition. But there’s still plenty of time until the final for gossip to get tongues wagging and fingers poised to invade social media.
As Twitter gets ready to go into its annual Eurovision meltdown, Universal music present the album titled “All Aboard - Eurovision Song Contest Lisbon 2018”. The album will be released on physical formats (that’s CD’s to you) on April 20th. The album features all entrants to the competition – whether they make the final or not.
Digitally released TODAY with physical 2CD set released on April 20th. A DVD and Blu-Ray will be released on June 23. Available to pre-order now at: https://eurovision.lnk.to/2018
The album features all 43 songs from this year’s Eurovision Song Contest including the UK hopeful SuRie with “Storm”. Full track-listing below.
200 million viewers make the Eurovision Song Contest the world’s biggest TV Music show of the year. But it is much more than just a show, and millions of people listen to the music all through the year (are they mad?).
The grand finale takes place in Lisbon on the 12th May.
And now the official, serious bit:
Salvador Sobral brought Portugal its first ever victory in the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv last year. Until that moment, the country held the record for most appearances in the competition without a single win. After a competitive selection process, Lisbon was announced as the Host City of the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest last summer. The creative theme for the competition this year, All Aboard, resonates with Lisbon’s history and the diverse logos, inspired by the oceans, underscore Eurovision’s core values. The world of public service media faces many challenges today and yet the Eurovision Song Contest stands as a shining example of a world-class international television co-production. It is also one of the rare times in the year where countries all set aside any differences they might have and unite for three nights of live music and entertainment. With 43 participating countries, the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest will be the biggest since 2011.
