We’re giving away a two-night stay for two at The Lygon Arms in the Cotswolds.
This recently revamped hotel sits in a 16th-century building in the Cotswolds village of Broadway. Original features such as creaky wooden floors and open fires have been given a contemporary upgrade, with high ceilings and antique quirks sitting alongside sleek courtyard suites. Guests at The Lygon Arms over the past 500 years have included both King Charles I and Oliver Cromwell, and in more recent times, Prince Philip, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.
The prizewinner and a guest will spend two nights in a Junior Suite, where a king-size bed is decked out in country-chic checks and plump, comfy sofas sit beneath original wooden beams. Breakfast is served in the inky-walled Lygon Bar & Grill, where dishes such as French toast with salted caramel crème fraîche, oak smoked salmon with scrambled eggs and lemon wrap, and a selection of freshly baked Viennoiserie are included in the prize.

Supper on both nights of the prizewinner’s stay is also included at the Lygon Bar & Grill. There’s a focus on local ingredients on the restaurant’s menu: choose from Cotswold ale battered cod and chips or wood pigeon with bacon, cauliflower and black pudding, followed by traditional British desserts such as sticky date and toffee pudding with vanilla créme fraiche, and seasonal fruit crumble with clotted cream ice cream.
Staying at The Lygon Arms, you’ll be in the heart of Broadway, one of the Cotswolds’ best-known villages. Cotswold stone houses, pubs and tea rooms line the high street, while the smaller villages of Chipping Campden, Kingham and Stow-on-the-Wold are all a short drive away.
This competition closes on 27 August 2018.
