STAR-PRIZE DETAILS:
Competition star prize is for a family of up to four (two adults and two children).
Star-prize includes:
Return international flights from London Heathrow to Kota Kinabalu in Sabah, Borneo;
Return airport transfers from Kota Kinabalu to Shangri-La’s Rasa Ria Resort & Spa;
Seven nights’ accommodation in one Premier Ocean Wing room at Shangri-La’s Rasa Ria Resort
& Spa;
Buffet breakfast at Oceano, the exclusive dining venue for Ocean Wing guests;

Validity will be one year from the date the star-prize winner is notified

Flights and accommodation are subject to availability
The star-prize winner’s parent or guardian must confirm flight dates by 22 October 2018 for return
flights to be booked
Flights will be economy class
Prize cannot be transferred for cash

CATEGORY PRIZES:
Each category winner will receive a Nikon COOLPIX W100 camera in either yellow or marine;
colour subject to availability; prize cannot be transferred for cash.
HOW TO ENTER
Ask your parent or guardian to send no more than one email per category to
[email protected]
Make sure the subject of each email contains your full name and the category you’re entering, i.e.
‘Tim Herbert, Animals’
Give your photograph a title
Don’t forget to attach your photo to the email! It should be a JPEG format, between 1MB and
5MB in size.
COMPETITION ENTRY TERMS & CONDITIONS
Competition is open only to legal residents of the UK and Ireland who are between the ages of six
and 14 at the time of entry (referred to as the ‘entrant’). Employees of Creature Media, National
Geographic Society, the prize providers, their affiliates and subsidiaries, and their immediate
family members (spouse, parent, child, sibling and their respective spouses, regardless of where
they live) or persons living in the same households of such individuals, whether or not related, are
not eligible to enter or win a prize.
Entries must be emailed by the entrant’s parent or guardian to
[email protected] – each
photograph must be between 1 megabyte and 5 megabytes in size, must be in JPEG format, and
must be at least 1,600 pixels wide (if a horizontal image) or 1,600 pixels tall (if a vertical image).
Digital entries need not be taken with a digital camera; scans of negatives, transparencies, or
photographic prints are acceptable. Original transparencies and negatives, or in the case of digital
images a minimum 12.7cm x 17.8cm (5”x7”) 300dpi JPEG of the winning photographs must be
available so they can be published. Photographs taken with digital camera or conventional films
are eligible. Minor burning, dodging and/or colour correction is acceptable. Cropping is
acceptable, as are fish-eye lenses. Any changes to the original photograph
not itemised here are unacceptable and will render the photograph ineligible for a prize.
Photographs must be taken not more than one year before the date of entry. Limit one entry per
entrant per category. The competition entrant must be the photographer.
NB: By emailing their child’s entry to the competition email address, the entrant’s parent or
guardian is giving permission for their child to enter the NG KiDS Photography Competition 2018
and for National Geographic Kids to contact them in the event of their image being longlisted.
Winning images will be printed in the magazine and winners may be required to take part in
promotional activities. All other entries will be erased once the winners are chosen to protect
privacy.
The closing date for competition entries is 23:59 (GMT) on 28 August 2018.
Winners will be notified by 17 September 2018.
