To celebrate the release of the film Aquarius in cinemas on 24 March 2017, we have teamed up with Journey Latin America to offer you and a guest a chance to win a 6-day holiday to Recife in Brazil, including economy flights from London, private transfers from the airport to the hotel and an excursions to explore Recife and nearby Olinda – a picturesque colonial town with cobbled streets.
Aquarius is the beautifully observed and surprising story of an ageing music critic, played by Sonia Braga, staging a stakeout against the developers in her apartment block in Recife, Brazil.
Clara, a 65 year old widow and retired music critic, was born into a wealthy and traditional family in Recife, Brazil. She is the last resident of the Aquarius, an original two-story building, built in the 1940s, in the upper-class, seaside Boa Viagem Avenue, Recife. All the neighbouring apartments have already been acquired by a property company, which have unsightly development plans for the plot. Clara has threatened that she will not leave her home until her death, and that she will fight to stop the company’s plans. This tension both disturbs Clara and affects her daily routine. It also makes her appreciate her loved ones and reflect on her past and her future.
