Win £500 of Book Tokens Gransnet

Along with HarperFiction, we are delighted to launch a short story writing competition tied to the recent publication of Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows by Balli Kaur Jaswal (a Gransnet book club choice for this coming Autumn.)
The competition aims to find original stories around the theme of mothers and daughters or other inter-generational relationships between women. Stories should be a maximum of 1,500 words long and must be submitted by midnight on Sunday 14 May 2017.
The judges
Entries will be judged by the author Balli, the book's commissioning editor Martha Ashby, Balli's agent Anna Power (Johnson & Alcock) and Gransnet editor Cari Rosen.
The prize
The winner will receive £500 of book tokens and an editorial mentoring session with Martha, plus they’ll see their story featured at the back of the ebook of Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows.
Two runners-up will win a selection of HarperCollins books and receive editorial feedback from the judges.
Author Balli Kaur Jaswal says, "I'm really looking forward to reading these stories. Mother/daughter and intergenerational relationships between women are major themes in all of my work and I'm excited to see how readers will address those ideas in their original fiction. I was fortunate to have great support and guidance through the beginning of my writing career, so I'm also pleased for the opportunity to mentor emerging writers."
Martha Ashby says, "I’m so excited to launch this competition with Gransnet, who have been so supportive of Balli and her wonderful book. We’re always looking for new and exciting voices and I think this is a brilliant opportunity to find writers from a new pool of readers.
