NORTHERN SOUL FLOORFILLERS brings together 26 classics from the scene that was hugely popular as an underground movement in the late ‘60s and ‘70s – one that still resonates and inspires converts in each new generation. In recent years this scene has seen a resurgence, partly motivated by the films Soul Boy and Elaine Constantine’s 2014 film, Northern Soul.
Included on this double LP are songs that still shake floors up and down the land. Kicking off with the call-to-the-dancefloor, Dobie Gray’s Out On The Floor, this collection works its way through classic of the genre, including: The M’V.P.’s ‘Turning Up My Heartbeat’, The Metros’ ‘Since I Found My Baby’, Shirley Ellis’ ‘Soul Time’, Roy Hamilton ‘Crackin Up Over You’ and The Exciters’ ‘Blowin’ Up My Mind’, as well more well-known numbers, such as Al Wilson’s ‘The Snake’, Just Brothers’ ‘Sliced Tomatoes’, ‘Chairman Of The Board’s ‘Give Me Just A Little More Time’ and Freda Payne’s ‘Band Of Gold’.
