The Tiger Who Came to Tea - Epstein Theatre Preview & Competition
My children are huge fans of books, and they all have their own treasured stories that they enjoy to read again and again. Some stories however span several generations, and books that were once my favourite as a child, are now also popular with my own children, which is really lovely to see.
A prime example of this is the wonderful tale of The Tiger Who Came to Tea, which has been a firm family favourite in our household, and I was very pleased to hear, that this lovely story has been adapted into a musical play that is embarking on a major UK tour.
The truly magical Olivier Award nominated West End production opens on Thursday 30th March at the Epstein Theatre, Liverpool for a three day run. It has been adapted and directed by David Wood OBE, and Judith Kerr's ever popular tale, The Tiger Who Came to Tea, is the ideal introduction to theatre for children aged three plus and the perfect treat for the whole family.
When Sophie and her Mummy welcome the hungry Tiger to Tea, he proceeds to eat all the sandwiches, buns, biscuits and more. He even manages to drink all the water in the tap! What will Sophie's Daddy say when he gets home?The doorbell rings just as Sophie and her Mummy are sitting down to tea. Who could it possibly be?What they certainly don’t expect to see at the door is a big furry, stripy tiger!

David Wood is undisputedly the country’s leading writer and director of plays and musicals for children, whose many successes include: The Gingerbread Man, Guess How Much I Love You, eight Roald Dahl adaptations including West End hits The BFG, The Witches and George’s Marvellous Medicine; and the Olivier Award winning Goodnight Mister Tom.

A few months ago, I became aware of an upcoming cinema release called "Peppa Pig My First Cinema Experience"which is due out in cinemas on the 7th April. I have never taken Riley to the cinema before, as I have always worried that he wouldn't want to sit through the whole film, and so as I learnt more about this, it sounded absolutely ideal.
This April, fans of Entertainment One's (eOne) Peppa Pig, will be snorting with delight as everyone's favourite little piggy heads to cinema's nationwide in an exciting big-screen adventure. Described as a perfect introduction to the cinema for preschoolers 'Peppa Pig My First Cinema Experience' is an hour of snorts, giggles and Peppa fun. Featuring all new stories, as well as new characters Policeman Panda (David Mitchell) and Mrs Crocodile (Jo Brand).
In the first of nine never-before-seen episodes called 'Peppa Visits London', The Queen takes Peppa and her friends on an exciting tour of London in a double-decker red bus!
The other 'oink-tastic' episodes include 'The Police', 'Canal Boat', 'The Zoo', 'Move to the Music', and a four-part adventure in which Peppa goes on an exciting holiday to Australia to visit her friend, Kylie Kangaroo.
Between the episodes, little ones (and parents too!) can join in with games, singing and dancing as there will be on-screen interactive entertainment featuring live action Peppa and George characters and their friend Daisy, in a colourful new world.
I love the fact that Peppa Pig My First Cinema Experience isn't a feature length film, but is in fact a collection of interactive episodes, that children can sing and dance along with. With it being aimed at pre-schoolers I won't need to worry if Riley is a little bit noisy, or wants to join in with the songs, and it will help to make our first trip to the cinema together that little bit more relaxed. Running at approximately an hour in length, it is also the ideal length of time to hold Riley's attention, and so we will definitely be heading to the cinema on it's release.

As a family we love festivals that are suitable for both parents and children, and find that they are a great way of finding new activities to experience whilst enjoying a friendly atmosphere with great music too. We were therefore really pleased to find out about a new festival only half an hour away from us that is being held over the the May Spring Bank Holiday (27th to 29th May) called The New Brighton Seaside Festival.
It will take place in a huge space in front of Fort Perch Rock, New Brighton Beach, Marine Lake, and the Promenade and will be the first large scale seaside festival of its kind in the area. It is the brainchild of Liverpool event management company Orb Events; the team behind some of the City region's largest festivals including the award-winning Liverpool Loves, Liverpool Pride and Farm Feast!
The New Brighton Seaside Festival is a dynamic family feel festival that celebrates the hidden charm, culture and heritage of New Brighton. In it's inaugural year, The New Brighton Seaside Festival is delighted to be embracing a modern vision for the area and bringing in an eclectic programme to locals and visitors alike. Expect everything from storytelling to Oyster shucking competitions; with lots of live music and even a pirate puppy parade.
There will be a diverse range of events including live entertainment, street food, chef demos, family activities, and a host of seaside themed attractions. A full children's activity programme will also be taking place each day that includes a Vintage Funfair, Punch and Judy style puppet shows - and there will also be lots of exciting workshops by the Junior Chef's Academy.
